FOUNDER – HAKEEM MURSALEEN FOUNDATION
Dr. Muqeem Mursaleen (widely known as Dr. Muqeem Khan) is a transdisciplinary designer, educator, and herbal physician who established the Hakeem Mursaleen Foundation to honor the life and legacy of his late father, the renowned herbalist Hakeem Mursaleen. His work bridges traditional Unani medicine, cutting-edge design, and emerging technologies, bringing new vision and vitality to the practice of herbal healing.
With academic degrees in Interior and Industrial Design from Ohio State University, and a PhD in Multidisciplinary Studies from the Extended Reality Collaborative at Charles Sturt University (Australia), Dr. Muqeem’s background reflects a deep commitment to integrative knowledge and human-centered innovation. His doctoral research—focused on the intersection of XR, design, and healthcare—earned international recognition, including a finalist spot for the Alumni Award of the Year 2023 and a prestigious $1 million research grant from Qatar’s National Priorities Research Program.
Dr. Muqeem also has a distinguished background in the Hollywood visual effects industry, contributing to films like Armageddon, Flubber, George of the Jungle, and Final Fantasy, in collaboration with Walt Disney Studios and Square USA. This rare blend of aesthetic insight, technical mastery, and storytelling has shaped his unique approach to healing and social impact.
Carrying forward his father’s heritage in Unani medicine, Dr. Muqeem is a licensed herbal physician and pulse diagnosis expert. Through Hakeem Mursaleen Pvt. Ltd., and now the Hakeem Mursaleen Foundation, he combines centuries-old herbal traditions with modern AI, visual design tools, and social media platforms to raise awareness about lifestyle diseases and promote holistic wellness, especially among underserved communities.
Currently serving as a faculty member at Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan, Dr. Muqeem continues to mentor the next generation of creatives and health advocates, while actively expanding the Foundation’s mission through education, care, and technology.

Hakeem Mursaleen was a gifted Unani physician, herbalist, and a compassionate humanitarian whose life was dedicated to healing and helping others—especially the poor and underserved.
Renowned for his expertise in lifestyle-based and contextual medicine, human temperaments, and pulse diagnosis, Hakeem Mursaleen was deeply respected within the field of Eastern medicine. His deep understanding of Unani pharmacopeia, along with his mastery in crafting proprietary herbal formulations, made him a trusted name in traditional healing circles.
Born the third of seven children in a modest family in Delhi, he was a shy yet exceptionally observant learner. Even from a young age, he demonstrated a natural talent for herbal knowledge and an imaginative approach to healing. What truly set him apart, however, was his unwavering commitment to those in need. Whether through his clinics, home remedies, or personal generosity, Hakeem Mursaleen quietly supported countless individuals who could not afford treatment.
